Restocking
While my skiff was at Hells Bay Boatworks getting a few upgrades myself and my good buddy Robbie hopped in his boat to go catch a few redfish and release a few thousand! Starting the day off we pulled up to our first flat in search of a school we knew would be nearby. With Robbie poling the skiff we spotted the fish and quietly approached them, once in range I made a cast using a small artificial paddle tail I slowly bounced it on the bottom until the first fish spotted it and sure enough he was hungry, fish on. After chasing these fish around for a while and catching a few it was time to head north.
Approaching the dock at University of Florida’s Whitney Labs in Palm Coast there where a parade of boats all there for the same reason to help distribute 100,000+ juvenile redfish into our flats and creeks! The juvenile redfish were spawned from a matanzas inlet brook stock and were 110 days old (approximately 2.5” long). Making our way as far back into some creeks and flats we found protected areas to release the juvenile redfish. After we released several thousand fish into ther’re new home it was time to go catch a few more.
