Fishing Report: May 2nd 2022

Spring fishing is in full swing, and the bite has been great here in Palm Coast. The flounder bite continues to be great, the inlet and nearby creeks have been producing a great bite. Dragging mud minnows slowly on the bottom or small artificial lures is my favorite way to target flounder. With the wind finally laying down low tide is a great time to sight fish some redfish on the flats cruising and feeding around the oyster bars and grass edges. Water temps are back up and that means the snook are getting fired up these aggressive feeders can be found in the backcountry around pinch points where the water is moving through bringing the food with it. Paddle tails, small twitch baits and topwater lures can be very effective for feeding snook.

One of my favorite things to target this time of year is big sea trout (Gator Trout). Very old and smart these large trout can be a little tricky to catch, approaching them very quietly and slowly is a must to be successful. For anglers looking for a good fight some tarpon a starting to show. The fishing is great in Palm Coast and St.Augustine right now!
